 Double Irish Chain Quilt

American, circa 1900–1930
Hand-pieced and hand-quilted cotton

A striking example of traditional American quiltmaking, this Double Irish Chain quilt features a rhythmic arrangement of cranberry-red and ivory squares forming an intricate lattice of interlocking diamonds. Delicate hand quilting adds texture and dimension to the open white spaces, while the softened cotton and gentle variations in color speak to generations of use and care. Both graphic and timeless, this heirloom reflects the artistry and enduring beauty of early American domestic textiles.

This quilt is thick, and has quite a bit of loft. The backing is a beautiful cream.

The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.

Fit features slouchy shoulders and a generous drape.

As an example, I am 5'7 and wear the classic, while a petite will work best for those 5'4 and smaller :)

Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
